This report describes a job analysis approach which has been operationally used by the Office of Personnel Management. The procedure represents an approach which could provide the job analyst with job information necessary for a content validity strategy. The technique places emphasis on identifying performance abilities through the use of job task/behavior statements. This approach works well with activities which plan to utilize the assessment center as a measurement tool, since the job analysis technique provides behaviorally based job analysis data. The report provides a step-by-step procedure explaining the job analysis technique and is designed for a user who does not have personnel measurement expertise.
