New anti- tumor therapies based on the premise that inhibiting angiogenesis suppresses tumor growth are currently being tested in multiple clinical trials (1, 2, 3). Angiogenesis is a multi-stage process that involves the release and activation of angiogenic factors, endothelial cell migration and proliferation, and differentiation into newly formed capillaries.
