Mixed-Mode Phase-Locked Quantum Well Laser Arrays

摘要

The fabrication and characterization of a new type of phase locked laser array which displays narrow, single lobe far field patterns is reported. The new array achieves phase-locking through coupling by diffraction in a central section where the propagating eigen modes are unguided. The light is guided in parallel element waveguides on either side of the central mode mixing region. (Reprints).
