Andrew Murray discussed his trip to the 11th International Congress on Engineering and Food with SAAFoSTs Northern Branch. His take on an inspirational lecture on education by Professor RP Singh raised quite a few ideas as well as concerns. Food Review interviewed a group of students at Wits. How are educators of today tackling Generation Y? TODAY's students are computer savvy, said Andrew Murray, they have low attention spans and in a lot of instances, know much more than their lecturers do about the latest technology. To add to this, hands-on laboratory experiments are expensive and students regard them as boring.
