Over the course of the last 10-15 years, the author has participated in several studies, in which we have analyzed the errors of the gear-hobbing, the gear-milling, and particularly the gear-grinding equipment that appear because of the inevitable misadjustment of the indexing quadrant of this equipment. The articles [1-3], devoted to these questions, showed that the misadjustment of the indexing quadrant because of the unavailability of the required change gears in gear hobbing and gear grinding causes primarily an error of the tooth pitch in the closure zone, i.e., between the first and last teeth that are being machined, while in gear milling the primary error is in the direction of the tooth. The formulas that were established for these deviations were confirmed experimentally, and the agreement of the calculated errors with the experimentally obtained values was 60-95%. However, the gear grinding errors that are caused by misadjustment of the generating quadrant on the machines with a conical grinding wheel were not examined in the cited articles. This question also has not been examined in the current technical literature, for example in [4-5].
