Most flowers enjoy a fleeting beauty - blossoming briefly then fading into memory within a short time. Not so the flowers in Gaston and Linda-Marie De Vel's garden, tucked in behind Orewa Beach north of Auckland. The roses, delphiniums, daisies and geraniums in the garden beds surrounding the De Vel house have far better prospects. Gaston is a well-known artist and any of the flowers in the garden tended by his wife might be selected as the subject for one of Gaston's still life studies.
