Assisting international students' adjustment to a new culture.

摘要

Although various authors have explored the aca-demic adjustment of onshore international stu- dents to overseas study, few focus specifically on everyday-living practicalities such as stable and safe accommodation and access to public transport to and from campus. The available literature about onshore international students tends to focus on providing educators with skills that relate to teaching, learning, and assessment. Although these aspects are important, greater attention to issues of intercultural adjustment to eveiyday living is required. International students contribute significantly to the educational and economic fabric of the countries in which they study. Our intention is to assist nursing faculty in host organizations to better understand these students' eveiyday needs and suggest some strategies that may enhance their settlement into a new social and cultural environment.
