Consumers, traders and producers are becoming increasingly aware of food safety and quality. Health aspects and organic farming are also gaining in importance. Producers have started to demonstrate their commitment to these issues by obtaining certification according to food standards with the aim of offering good value for money and strengthening their own market position. At the same time efforts are made to harmonize existing standards.
