From its humble beginnings in the first BGAs during the 1990s, ball grid array technology has exploded into a huge variety of package types. Even when we ignore the multitude of different internal constructions for these package types, there is still a vast range of different form factors, materials and ball diameters that must be accommodated by the ball placement equipment supplier.
