Basis of resistance in brinjal against fruit and shoot borer

Fruit and shoot borer (Leucinodes orbonalis Guen.) is the most serious pest of brinjal, which occurs throughout the year at all stages of crop growth. This pest may cause as high as 100% fruit damage (Rahman, 2007). Host plant resistance would be useful either as a complete control measure as a part of the integrated pest management with limited dependence on pesticides. Resistance in plants may be imparted due to morphological, anatomical and biochemical or combined factors. Therefore, present study was undertaken to determine the factors of resistance in brinjal against fruit and shoot borer.
