Income Generation from Dairy Animals through Technology Transfer to Sustain Livelihood of Rural Community

Dairy animal rearing is part and parcel of the agricultural farming activities mostly engaged by women in our country. However, they are facing problems such as unsold surplus milk, dry period of dairy animals and costly animal health care. These problems can be solved by value added milk product preparations through adopting low cost technologies at household level. Byproducts from cattle viz., dung and urine can be utilized as vermi-compost and panchagavya. The cost of allopathic medicines can be reduced by adopting ethno-veterinary medicines for the treatment of sick animals. Hence, an attempt was made to impart training on production of value added milk products, vermi-compost, panchagavya and ethno-veterinary medicines.
