Karan Gas Field Has Entered Production

Saudi Aramco has announced that non-associated gas production has begun at the offshore Karan field at an initial rate of 120 million cubic feet per day from five wells. The gas is dispatched to the Khursaniyah gas plant through a 117-kin subsea pipeline. Production started in early July and output is due to reach 400 million cu ft/day this summer to meet peak summer demand. Dry gas production from Karan should be up to 1.5 billion cu ft/day from 14 wells by June 2012 and reach the full-capacity rate of 1.8 the completion of two more wells.
