In 2016, Nurses Service Organization, more common-ly known as NSO, celebrated its 40th anniversary. Throughout those 40 years, the nursing profession has ft seen great advances in technology, science, education, and medication delivery. The profession has evolved as has the role of nurses. As health care continually becomes more patient-centered, nurses have emerged as leaders in the health care system. They are at the center of health care, not only working closely with physicians to determine proper care but also interacting with patients and their families to help ensure they understand their options and are prepared to make the best possible decisions. But as the role of nurses has evolved, so has their risk.
