摘要

A gray-scale image processing system that can be very easily programmed by the user for automating the visual inspection tasks has been developed by using an edge-extending gray-level image-processing algorithm, which reliably detects minute defects such as cracks and chipped edges or defects resulting in small differences in contrast difficult to detect using past methods. The developed system enables anyone, with or without specialty knowledge of software, to easily produce a visual inspection program with the help of a visual programming environment, thereby improving the operability and efficiency of developing inspection programs as well as facilitating easy simulation of inspection and evaluation. In addition, the use of a hardware configuration that supports a variety of image input devices, such as mega-pixel cameras, double-speed cameras, etc., has expanded the previous range of inspection objects to include those requiring high speed, wide field of view or high resolution.
