ICL Acquires Mexican Food Ingredients Firm

ICL Performance Products (St. Louis), an operating segment of Israel Chemicals, says it has agreed to acquire Cosmocel Group subsidiary Cosmocel Quimica (Monterrey, Mexico), a manufacturer of functional food ingredients and specialty chemicals. Terms were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close in the next few weeks. "Through this acquisition, ICL Performance Products is expanding our reach in the food, beverage and specialty chemical markets," says Charles Weidhas, ICL Performance Products president and CEO. "We are broadening both our product portfolio and our geographical customer base. This will allow us to expand our ability to meet our customer's needs, especially in the bakery, dairy and beverage markets.
