Higher educational institutions in Turkey offer programmes in Sports education under the name of the School of Physical Education and Sports (SPESs). They offer five different programs: Teacher training in physical education and sports, Sports administration, Coaching education, Recreation, and Sports sciences. There are 44 public universities that offer these programs. During 2011, there has been an increase by 57% in the number of SPESs, which created a very highly competitive college education. Hence, colleges need to develop quality assurance programs to shed light into specific service needs of SPES students, monitor the service quality, identify specific areas that need improvements and take necessary actions to correct them. The purpose of the article is to provide insights into the service quality perceptions and measurement in the SPESs. (57 refs.)
