摘要

School programs at public gardens often draw from the three learning types. Not all school programs at public gardens fit neatly into an informal, nonformal or formal learning rubric. Elements of all three can often be found in these programs. Thosethat traverse the continuum from informal to formal learning enable public garden educators, and educators at other informal learning institutions, to examine goals and objectives for their program. They can also select strategies that allow them to achieve the learning outcomes they desire. In this article I describe a successful program that we developed at the State Arboretum of Virginia.
