Tireless workers of industry, welding robots used to be blind. Today, to make sure that companies can produce perfect assemblies despite the difficulties encountered in industrial workshops, robots have become self -adapting with a system of vision based on laser triangulation — Fig. 1. Blind robots do not produce perfect work. For a blind robot to succeed, parts must be presented with a level of precision compatible with the requirements of the process. Assisted by a process of self-adaptation, however, robots can become efficient production systems, with few faults.
