La terminologie multilingue. La traduction de termes de l'egalite HF dans le discours international

Considering that terminology is a relatively young discipline, it is well served in the matter of handbooks, starting with Eugen Wuster's pioneering work, first published posthumously in 1979. French is particularly well represented, with at least five major introductions, from Rey's Que Sais-je? (Rey [1979] 1992), through the numerous editions of Dubuc ([1974] [1978] [1985] [1992] 2002), Rondeau ([1981] 1984), the French version of Cabre ([1992] 1998) to the most recent by L'Homme (2004). In digital form, the on-line tutorial Le Pavel,1 available in French as well as six other languages, also warrants a special mention. In view of these documentary riches, it may seem extravagant to publish yet another textbook. The obvious aspect of terminology activities which dates most quickly is the incorporation of ever-increasing advances in IT, but this is not the focus of this new publication. Indeed, it may be argued that this technical aspect of terminology training would best be catered for through hands-on on-line tutorials, rather than a traditional print-on-paper manual.
