摘要

For many of us music is something heard rather than produced. However the many musicians and instrumentalists out there would tell a different story - of constant practice, trying to obtain and play a good instrument, understand how and why sounds are produced (and how to produce better ones), and mastering techniques - fingering, position, valve control, embouchure. Pagliaro is a music teacher based in New York and his desk reference book is aimed at teachers, students and technicians. The book is likely to be bought by schools and colleges which specialize in music and musical performance, and by music teachers interested in having a clear and simple introduction to musical instruments - woodwind and brass, strings and percussion.
