There are good surprises and bad surprises. I see getting promoted to editor of PCD&M as a very good surprise. It reminds me of the way Christopher Moltisanti found out he was getting his button on "The Sopranos." Shoot your cuffs and look sharp. It's time. I've been angling for the editor's job since I landed here in 1999, fresh from a crime reporting gig here in metro Atlanta. Stepping over messy crime scenes proved to be bittersweet practice for writing about the demise of EDA software companies and PCB manufacturers, plus a few lawsuits. Since then I've been assistant editor and associate editor with Printed Circuit Design and PCD&M, as well as conference chair for the PCB Design Conferences. (Want to teach a class at PCB West in March 2005 ? We're past the deadline, but send me an abstract just in case I have any openings.)
