Never Good Enough: The Educational Journey of a Vietnamese American Woman

It was just recently, when in an attempt to praise my academic achievements, a co-worker of mine revealed that she had gushed to her son about me being so young and in a doctoral program. She told me her son had expressed admiration before asking if I was in fact Asian. My co-worker continued to find amusement in her son's comment, implying that if I am Asian American, my accomplishments are considered less impressive.
