THE NUMBER of rail passenger journeys in Great Britain fell by 2.7% to 416 million in the first quarter of 2017-18, the lowest amount for two years. The driver of this was a 4.5% fall in journeys in the London and South East sector, according to data from the Office of Rail and Road. This reduction was offset by increases in the long distance (1.5%) and regional sectors (1.8%).
