The recent demise of my elderly father presented me with the task of gathering and packing his extensive music library. A lifelong jazz fan, he started collecting records when he was in his teens and kept at it steadily until well into his eighties. The core of his collection is the period of the late 1920s to the early 1950s - mostly Dixieland and Swing, with bits of blues and other genres. Like most music lovers of all periods and genres, his interest in new music faded as adult responsibilities grew.
