摘要

This article examines an action research projectconcerned with the need for Japanese universitystudents to learn how to use technologicalsupport for self-organised EFL learning. In particular,the research focused on the potential ofthe Internet for English self-study. In outlininga solution for teaching awareness of existingInternet-based support for English languagelearning, the paper explores the novel usageof YouTube relayed instructional videos withEnglish subtitles and the need for simple andclean website design to enhance intuitive taskcommunication. Furthermore, the paper discussesthe concept of the teacher operatingin three spatial domains, the notion that thecourse solution provides a bridge between conventionalclassroom study and self-study, andfinally the possibility that the course solutionis enabling the students to take on a higherdegree of challenge than may have otherwisebeen expected.
