Hill Equipment Co.'s newly redesigned FES still features a heating coil in the air chamber rather than the solvent. The coil passes heated air over lightly heated solvent to prevent its overheating, while protecting against dirty heating coils, the company says. This means that the solvent won't take on the odor of heated contaminants or additives, the company says. FES stills use a closed-loop circulation system to move vaporized, solvent-laden air through a condensing coil to remove distillate.
