English is an important required course in high-er education, concerning students' learning, employment and postgraduate entrance examination. Without a proper language environment for English teaching, students always feel it diffi-cult to learn English and their learning effect is poor. English newspaper reading can improve students' level of English to some extent, as it not only can enlarge students' vocabulary and improve their learning interest, but also enable them to grasp reading skills and learn about some uncommon sentence pat-terns and grammatical knowledge that are not included in text-books. In teaching, the teacher should effectively guide students to read English newspapers, providing more reading methods for students and helping them learn more in newspaper reading.%在高校教学中英语是一门重要的必修课程，关乎着学生很多方面的学习以及未来的就业和考研等。在英语的教学中，由于没有合适的语言环境，学生的英语学习一直比较困难，达不到理想的学习效果。英语报刊的阅读从一定程度上可以促进学生英语水平的提高，不仅能增大学生的词汇量，提升学生的学习兴趣，更是能够让学生在阅读中掌握阅读技巧，了解课本中不常见到的句型和语法，有助于学生的英语学习。教师在教学过程中，要良好地引导学生对英语报刊的阅读，为学生提供更多的阅读方法，让学生在英语报刊的阅读中能学到更多的知识，进一步帮助学生学习英语。
