An Analysis of Metaphor Translation of Birds as Images in Chinese Traditional Poems and Ci

摘要

In Chinese traditional poems and ci, animal images provide an important platform for expressing emotions, and birds are particularly beloved by almost all authors. This essay chooses two classical poems and one ci which use birds as images as well as their translation version of Xu Yuanchong. As for conclusion, this essay believes that there exists fixed translation methods in translating fixed bird images though some kind of birds in some poems or ci should be translated based on specific situation, such as authors' feelings and social backgrounds.
