A Relevance Theoretical Account of Translation of Humorous lines——a Study of Cases in Zhao Benshan’s Short Comedies

摘要

The paper takes the humorous dialogue in short comedy of Zhao Benshan to study the specific translation of humorous discourse from the perspective of relevance theory which springs from cognitive psychology and illustrate the strong interpretive power of RT for humorous lines.The theoretical foundations of the account for humor are as follows:the ostensive-inferential cognitive behavior,translation validity,the optimal relevance assumptions and the interpretive power of context.The principle of laughter-making humor lays in that the opposite proportion between effort consuming and contextual effect.
