摘要

本文对近期出版的学术专著《书写他处：亚裔北美文学鼻祖水仙花研究》的内容、意义、研究方法和作者的背景进行了比较全面的评述。指出该书不仅仅是一本关于华裔美国作家水仙花的研究专著，更是以水仙花的文学史为线索书写中西文化交融与冲突的历史与规律的“宏大叙事”，是一部以小见大、见微知著的力作，认为该书是诗意的思辨和科学的方法结合的典范，并给作者所倡导的“永远历史化”以及建立在文本细读与解析基础上的科学的研究方法以充分肯定。同时，介绍了该书作者研究领域和学术风格形成的经历。%A full commentary is provided in this article on the contents, significance, research methods of Writing Elsewhere:A Study of Sui Sin Far, Ancestress of North-American Asian Literature, a scholarly work recently published, as well as on the author’s background, pointing out that it is not only a monograph on Sui Sin Far, an American writer of Chinese origin but also a powerful work with an eye for detail that sees the significant in the insignificant, written in the“Grand Narrative”of Chinese-Western cultural mergings and conflicts about their history and patterns, based on the literary history of Sui Sin Far. The author is of the view that the book is a paragon of the combination of poetic speculation and scientific methods and is fully supportive of the“Eternal Historicization”, as promoted by the writer of the book, and his scientific research methods based on a close reading of the text and analysis while at the same time the author gives an introduction to his experience in research areas and the formation of his scholarly style.
