仁是孔子思想的核心，兼有人的内在情志和外在规范；智是人所特有的理性认知和道德选择能力。在孔子思想的概念群中，智是唯一能与仁平行对举的德目，仁与智相互依存、相得益彰，是儒家理想人格和精神境界的必要构成。在孔子的人道关怀中，智而仁是成人的基本进路，仁且智则是成圣的逻辑旨归。%Benevolence is the core of Confucius' thought,and has the connotations of human's internalized affection and externalized code of ethics. Intelligence is human's uni×ue ability of rational cognition and moral choice. Wisdom gradually comes from the study and practice of moral conscience. In the concept groups of Confucius thought,only Wisdom is really appositional and parallel to Benevolence. The two are interdependent and complementary each other,which are the essential constitutions of Confucian ideal personality and spiritual realm. The basic purpose of Confucius thought is to become an ideal person,which makes wisdom some prior to benevolence. The ultimate aim of Confucius thought is to become holy,which needs the perfect unity of Wisdom and Benevolence.
