As an independent and creative Chinese landscape painter, Jian Jiang had experienced the frustration of his early years with own loneliness and independence. Jian Jiang always claimed himself out of times in his lifetime, which led to becoming a monk on the prime of life. By the influence of Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism and traveling forest, Jian Jiang's spiritual character was included in Confucian's faith & filial piety of internalizing and meditating on Zen&Taoist of keeping out of the world. It was a great important to form his creation and style of landscape painting by indulging in landscape with Linquan heart.It is a great significance to appreciate Jian Jiang's landscape painting by lucubrating his life situation and spiritual character .%渐江作为一位极具独创精神的中国山水画家，早年经历坎坷、性情孤僻、特立独行，一生常叹“不合时宜”，壮年便出家为僧。渐江因受儒、道、佛思想和游居山林的影响，其精神品格既有内化于心的儒家忠孝品格和参禅悟道的出世精神，又习染了烟霞痼疾，心中常驻林泉之志，对其山水画创作和风格的形成产生了重要影响。深入研究渐江的人生处境与精神品格，对于欣赏渐江绘画具有重要意义。
