目的论与余光中《不可儿戏》的翻译策略

     

摘要

戏剧翻译存在可表演性与文化忠实传递的矛盾。源语言文化和目的语言文化差异越大,该矛盾就越突出,也就越会使译者陷入顾此失彼的困境。王尔德戏剧更因充满幽默、诡异的对白而令不少中国译者却步。而目的论则为解决这一矛盾提供了可行的理论依据。从目的论观点看,余光中对王尔德戏剧The Importance of BeingEarnest(《不可儿戏》)所采取的文化传递与可表演性兼顾而以表演性为重的中国化翻译策略是成功的;反之,余光中的翻译实践又印证了目的论的可行性。%Drama translation is confronted with the contradiction between performability and faithful cultural transmission, which is accelerated by the difference between the source culture and the target culture: the greater the difference, the more challenging the translation dilemma. OscarWilde' sdrama, with its humorous, lofty and trenchant language, is especially formidable for Chinese translators. However, Skopos theory has provided solid theoretical foundation for solving the contradiction. From the perspective ofSkopos, Yu Kwang-chung' s translation stratage of ensuring both faithful transmission and performability with the emphasis on the latter is successful; Yu' s translation, in turn, justifies the feasibility of Skopos Theory in the filed of drama translation.
