Based on Archetypal criticism, this paper interprets the "garden" image and four major archetypal characters in the story Rappaccini's Daughter by Hawthorne in order to explore Hawthorne's view of human nature and his complicated religion complex.%本文依托原型批评理论，从原始意象和人物原型这两个方面对霍桑的短篇小说《拉帕其尼的女儿》中的“花园”意象以及四个主要人物进行解读，以此来探讨霍桑的人性观及其复杂的宗教情结。
