禁闭与疯癫--析《荆棘之城》中的禁闭空间意象

摘要

The confining spaces in Fingersmithwere madhouses that imprisoned women, reflecting the persecution women suffered in the patriarchal society. Meanwhile, they were“heterotopias of deviation”that isolated lesbians from the mainstream society, showing that lesbians were rejected and punished in the Victori⁃an period. The heroines finally deconstructed the patriarchal confining space and constructed a female space to settle their lesbian desire, but at the same time, they also reconstructed a confining space to achieve self-pro⁃tection and self-isolation, which is the author’s interpretation of the survival condition of lesbians in the 21st Century from a modern angle. She blurs the boundary of fiction and fact, history and present, rendering Finger⁃smith the characteristics of postmodernism.%《荆棘之城》中的禁闭空间是禁锢女性的“疯人院”，体现女性在父权社会所受的迫害；它也是隔离女同性恋者的“异托邦”，反映维多利亚社会女同性恋者被排斥、被惩罚的生存状态。女主人公最终解构了父权制的禁闭空间、建构女性空间来安置她们的同性恋情，但同时也是重构了一个禁闭空间以实现自我保护与自我隔离，这是作家模糊了虚构与真实、历史与现在的界限，站在当代的角度对当下女同性恋者的生存境遇的阐释，体现小说的后现代特色。
