Zhejiang higher education started from the year of 1897. After nearly half a century of development, it has formed its relatively complete system. As a result, the colleges in Zhejiang Province were usually not so large and not influential in China. This paper discusses the steady stage and rapid stage of "College and Department Adjustment" in Zhejing in the 1950s. After this reformation, the central authorities achieved its goals while Zhejiang Province experienced more losses than benefits. Histor-ically speaking, the reformation solved a lotof difficulties, but left a lot problems behind as well.%浙江现代高等教育发端于1897年,经过半个世纪的发展,基本形成了较为完整的院校格局,但是规模不大,在全国的影响力也不强.20世纪50年代浙江的高校经历先"稳妥"后"急进"的"院系调整".经过调整,中央实现了预期的目的,而浙江则是损失大于收益.从历史的眼光看,"院系调整"虽然解决了当时的困难,但也产生了很多影响至今的后遗症.
