Although progress has been achieved in education of English majors, difficulties and chal-lenges arise, one of which is the marginalization of English as a specialization in universities. How to con-tinue with it? What is the core value of this specialization? These and others are questions facing both teachers and the administers at universities. This paper first analyzes the existing problems and challenges, reflects on the teaching mode centering around skills of English majors, and proceeds to identify the"shared core as a specialization" of the disciplinary system of English before suggesting some solutions based on the theories of disciplinary teaching and development of English majors.%多年来,英语类专业取得了长足的发展,同时也面临着困难和挑战,英语类的专业性出现了淡化的现象,这给高校英语教育者和管理者提出了新的问题,英语系该怎么办下去? 英语类专业的核心价值所在何处? 本文在分析我国高校英语类专业人才培养存在的问题和挑战的基础上,反思现行的以技能为主的英语专业人才培养模式,对社会需求和英语学科体系下的"专业共核"加以分析,以学科教学论和专门用途英语理论为基础,提出英语类专业培养的对策.
