操控论视角下莫言小说英译本的俗语翻译研究

摘要

翻译作为一种重要的文化交流活动，对促进中国文化的发展有着重要的贡献。然而现今中国译者翻译的文学作品在国外的认知度并不高，中国的第一位诺贝尔文学奖得主莫言的成功很大程度上得益于美国翻译家葛浩文，本文将从操控理论的视野探讨葛浩文对莫言小说当中俗语的翻译。
　　本文以安德烈·勒菲弗尔的操控理论作为理论基础，从意识形态，诗学及赞助人等方面对葛浩文对莫言小说中俗语翻译进行分析，探讨影响葛浩文翻译的文化因素，及这些因素对葛浩文翻译材料的选择及翻译策略的使用的影响。研究发现:受到赞助人的影响，葛浩文在翻译过程中更多关注读者的阅读期待以满足出版社的要求，为了迎合美国政府的统治需要和大众的舆论需求，运用归化的策略将原文中与美国意识形态相违背的部分进行转换或删除;在西方主流诗学的影响下，西方读者更关注小说的整体的结构和意境，为此译者删除一些重复和啰嗦的内容使文章结构变得更为清晰，同时在译文中添加一些能引起西方读者关注而原文中所缺少的内容。可见在文学翻译的过程中，译者受到意识形态、诗学和赞助人等文化因素的影响，会根据不同的翻译需求采用意译、直译、增译等不同的翻译方法。希望该研究能为翻译中国文学作品的译者们提供一些参考和建议，有助于中国文学作品走向世界。
