从归化与异化角度看《西游记》中的宗教俗语在两个英译本中的翻译

摘要

近年来，随着翻译研究中的文化转向，越来越多的国内学者开始关注中国典籍的英译问题，其旨在大力传播中国文化，促进文化交流以及丰富目标语。
　　 《西游记》是我国古代四大名著之一，其在中国文学乃至世界文学史上都占有非常重要的地位。这部小说不仅享有极高的文学价值，而且还包含了大量中国传统文化信息，特别是包含了宗教方面的信息，确切地说，儒道佛三教在《西游记》中很好地呈现出来。
　　 目前，已经有两个英文版的全译本问世，这两个版本各有千秋。本文基于归化与异化翻译理论，对詹纳尔和余国藩的《西游记》全译本进行对比研究，分别从儒道佛三教各自的自我修行的实践和理论方面分析宗教俗语的翻译策略，最终得出的结论为：詹纳尔的译本采用以归化为主，异化为辅的翻译策略，吸引了目标读者且忽略了大量的中国文化；而余国藩的译本则采用的是以异化为主，归化为辅的翻译策略，大量加注法使读者易于理解并促进中国文化向目标语文化的传播。
　　 最后，作者提出在翻译《西游记》时，尤其是翻译含有宗教文化涵义的中国典籍时，采用异化为主，归化为辅，两者相辅相成的翻译策略是较好的翻译策略。同时，通过对比研究《西游记》的现行两个英译本，本文也提出了一些改进的建议。
