诗歌《当你老了》及其汉译文的系统功能语言学研究

摘要

二十世纪下半叶见证了由韩礼德引导的系统功能语言学的迅速发展。作为研究使用中的语言的一种学科，系统功能语言学更为关注语言的社会属性它把语言看作为一种实践，而非一种认识它更加注重对于个别语言和语言变体的研究;它用连续性来解释语言的不同表现形式，并通过统计手段和语篇观察来验证假设;它的核心类别是系统的类别。
　　对于系统功能语言学的研究，层出不群，各不相同，但大致可以分为对其理论的介绍;对其理论的研究（如情态系统，主位推进模式，语篇衔接，语法隐喻等等）;以及对其应用的研究（如外语教学研究，翻译研究，汉语研究等等）。最近几年，越来越多的学者关注到其对于翻译和语篇分析的指导作用和意义。然而，在这些研究当中，很少有关于诗歌翻译的研究，即使在现在为数不多的一些诗歌翻译研究当中，对于英文诗歌及其翻译的研究，则更是少之又少。这篇论文拟从系统功能语言学三大纯理论功能的角度研究二十世纪伟大诗人叶芝的《当你老了》和它的四个汉译版本，以求从不同的角度加深对于三大纯理功能功能的理解及其对于翻译的指导意义。
　　本文写作的两个目的在于:(1)从系统功能语言学的角度看《当你老了》和它的四个汉译本;(2)从语篇分析的角度看系统功能语言学的三大纯理论功能并对这个领域的研究得到一些启发。本文的文本，即叶芝的《当你老了》，收集于《叶芝诗集》;其四个译文版本来自于《当代中国诗歌选》。而本文第三章列举的一些例子则是根据理论的定义而得来。因此，本文的文本主要通过观察法，而对于文本的分析，则采用的是定性的和描述的研究方法。
　　通过本文的论述可得出:尽管系统功能的三大纯理论功能在英文诗歌及译文的研究中是可行的，但并非臻于完美。如果在分析文本时结合文体学，则更能准确传神的表达出原作者暗含在句中的某些词的意义。
