This paper describes a release on command delivery system. The technology uses (modified) natural polymers such as polysaccharides and proteins which are cross linked into a three dimensional network. This network is able to contain an active ingredient until through the action of outside stimuli the network’s integrity is dismantled. In the past two years new generations of this system have been developed, namely coating of the particles using food grade ingredients and combination with inorganic material. These two new developments have broadened the scope of application of this release on demand technology.
