This paper applies inertial sensor technology in the trench depth detection, proposes a differential trench depth detection system. The differential trench depth detection system utilizes inertial sensors to detect the posture of trencher and calculate angle difference by processor through inertial sensors on vehicle as a reference and the trencher arm in order to eliminate the effects caused by unequal field, etc. The trench depth is calculated with the combination of angle difference and the relative sizes of trencher structure and is displayed by monitor in real time. The system includes wireless transmission module and upper-computer so as to realize remote monitoring. System mentioned above consists of data acquisition module, wireless transmission module, and upper-computer. The data acquisition module gets and processes'data detected and sends it to upper-computer by wireless transmission module. The upper-computer possesses functions of data storage, historical records query, curve drawing,and map display in the form of website to realize remote monitoring.
