TECHNOLOGY BOUND AND CONTEXT BOUND MOTIVES FOR THE INDUSTRIAL USE OF DIELECTRIC HEATING

For almost half a century the electroheat department of LABORELEC is doing feasibility studies on industrial electroheat applications. Based on an exploration of the technical reports in the archive of this electroheat laboratory, the specific place of dielectric heating is determined in the whole range of electroheat technologies. The technology bound and context bound motives that bring industrial users to a feasibility study for dielectric heating are disclosed. From this "historical" analysis an assessment is made as to the driving forces for future implementation of dielectric techniques.
