TPG Applied Technology, in collaboration with Fluor Fernald, has designed, fabricated, tested, delivered and is currently providing technical support of a remotely operated waste retrieval system. The system includes the retrieval equipment, instrumentation, local controls and remote console system, containment systems, and total interface and conveyance equipment to retrieve the solid low-level radioactive waste from the Fernald Silos 1 & 2. The equipment includes: Decant and Slurry Pump Module and Glove Box containment System; size: 8' wide × 19' long × 16' high; weight: 25,000 pounds; Qty: 6 Tele-operated and Articulated Tank Sluicing Modules and Glove Box Containment System; size: 6' wide × 10' long × 20' high; weight: 14,000 pounds; Qty: 12 Fully Automated High Pressure Pump skids (operating at 3,000 psi); system size: 10' wide × 21' long × 7' high; weight: 15,000 pounds; Qty: 4 skids plus 1 spare skid.
