Learners’ Appeal: An Analysis of Teachers’ Behavior in Online Live Teaching

The live teaching is a new form of online education, the learning goal has a change from educators to learners, i.e., educators become the target to be evaluated by learning activities and online learning develops into interactive learning. However, new challenges are imposed upon the development of teachers' behavior. This paper explores the behavior of teachers in live teaching from the perspective of learners using qualitative research methods. A total of 1168 student comments on 9 teachers with different disciplines from the current mainstream live platform were chose as research samples. Through analyzing the comments' content by using Nvivo software, the study obtains the following results: 1) in live teaching, learners puts forward new requirements to teachers from three perspectives, namely teacher's personality behavior, verbal behavior and teaching behavior. 2) Teachers' personality behavior includes personal characteristics and professional attitude. Verbal behavior includes the scientific, logical and rhythmic language behavior. Teaching behavior includes precise teaching, flexible interaction and after-school service. Therefore, teachers conducting live teaching should first change the traditional teaching concept, enhance the interaction between learners, improve their own scientific research and professional quality, and pay attention to the cultivation of personality charm.
