In-situ composite materials have been investigated using SEM and TEM techniques in order to give some insight into the relationship between processing kinetics and microstructure of these materials. Materials prepared by two different techniques, namely the in-situ displacement reaction and the solid-metal-precursor method (SMP), have been examined, and results from these investigations have shown that it is extremely important to investigate the microstructural characteristics to the smallest possible scale.
