A series of coherently strained face centred Fe-Cu multilayers were examined by electron energy loss spectroscopy using momentum resolved methods. Changes in the Fe white line intensity and L_3/L_2 ratio as a function of both crystal orientation and Fe layer thickness are discussed in terms of the large tetragonal distortions present in the multilayers.
