Combined sound-box rest and needle-setting device.-The top-plate of the casing of a sound-reproducing machine is fitted with a l e d g e on which the sound-box rests when out of use, a series of steps being provided so as to limit the distance a needle protrudes after insertion through the bore of the needle-arm. As shown in Fig. 1, the ledge h on which the sound-box rim rests is horizontal, and a greater or less protrusion of the needie is allowed, according as the sound-box e is placed with the needle g over the step l, k, or j. Behind the step j, a recess may be provided to receive the old needle when it is released from the holder. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the sound-box rest m is stepped, and the needle support is formed as an inclined plate n. A receptacle s is provided for receiving the worn needles as they fall from the holder.
