726,847. Vehicles simulating animals. MULLER, H., [trading as SCHREYER & CO.]. March 26, 1953 [Aug. 26, 1952], No. 8452/53. Class 136(3). [Also in Group XV] A toy walking figure which may be large enough to carry a child has at least four legs and has means to ensure that its leg members are all actuated even when the running surface for the toy is uneven. In Fig. 1, each leg member 4 is rockable on a pivot 7 by a lever 8 connected to a resilient wheel 5 carried on a support 3, the wheel having holes 11 to increase its resiliency and making continuous contact with the running surface. The support- 3 may be of spring steel wire and have one or more bends in it for increased resiliency. A modified wheel, Fig. 10, (not shown), has bushes for the leg-operating lever and the support. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, supports 3 are secured on a plate 15 which is pivoted on a longitudinal pin 13 thus permitting wheels 5 to be continuously engaged with the uneven running surface 17, 17SP1/SP. A cover 14 prevents obstruction of the pivoted plate 15 when the figure is of the stuffed type. Modified leg-rocking means comprises a plate member secured to the leg and having a slot which engages a crank pin on the wheel, Figs. 8, 9 (not shown). The wheels may be of rubber or soft thermoplastic material.
