A cigarette package comprises an inner envelope 21 formed from a blank having a layer of self-adhesive material, e.g. rubber latex, on its outer surface, and an outer envelope 25 formed from a blank having a layer of similar material on its inner surface, the end closures 23a, 6 and 27 of the envelopes being formed by the application of pressure to overlapping portions thereof. In a modification, Figs. 3a and b (not shown), the inner envelope is replaced by a folded strip of stiffer material which covers the end and narrow side faces of the batch of cigarettes.
